About Annapurna Expedition (8091M)
Mount Annapurna (I) was the first 8000m+ peak to be climbed. The French expedition team reached the summit on 3 June 1950. Since that, it became popular for climbing expedition. In 2013 a Swiss climbers Ueli Steck soled the lafaille route on the Annapurna Main and attempt on the route and has been called “one of the most impressive Himalayan climbs in history”. In this expedition, Ueli steck make the trip from Base Camp to summit and back again within 28 hours. Historically, Mount Annapurna has a highest record of fatality rate in among the 14 eight thousands mountain.
The word “Annapurna” is derived from the Sanskrit-language words Anna ("food") and Purna ("filled"), and can be translated as "everlasting food". Also this is a holy mountain in Hinduism and Buddhist philosophy. People have strong belief towards Annapurna and other mountains of this region. There are three summits of Annapurna, which are Annapurna (I- Main), Annapurna South, and Annapurna .The government certified summit for expedition is Annapurna Main.
Techenically, climbing Annapurna is one of the tough compare with other mountains. However, hundreds of thousand climbers wish to conquer it each year.
